How Art Enchances Architecture

“Mangera Yvars Architects”, International Awards-Winning Studio about Art Identity Safekeeping. A project together with 365 ART Sagl.

Identity

The generic city and all it implies has generously provided us with a template for the global city. Activity hubs such as shopping malls, office complexes and orchestrated leisure ensure that cities are no longer places for craftsmanship or individual expression but rather spaces for an ubiquitous urbanism.

Beginning with modernism, the hyper dissemination of ideas and ideals spread across cities around the world has led to a profound crisis of identity. How relevant is the crisis and isn’t monoculture a symptom of progress?

Creating a successful blend

Art needs an appropriate built environment within which it can be showcased to greatest effect, while architecture needs art to turn bricks, steel and concrete into a space in which people want to live, to learn, to shop and to work.

The relationship between art and architecture is one that has fascinated architects and artists for centuries. The balance can be hard to get right, and the process can be a challenging one. Art is here to enhance architecture to create visually stunning environments that respect geographical location, cultural heritage, traditions and ethnic background.

“Mangera Yvars Architects” team  through London and Barcelona provides  architectural, interior design, landscape and master-planning services for clients worldwide. Now along with 365 ART faces a challenging mission to complete architectural environmental context with outdoor largescale artworks for a sublime aesthetic touch and to underline a deep connection in between.

A Dialogue with the Environment

Human habit and civilizations will always succumb to the timeless power of nature. Our approach for the residence is to develop proposals that merge human habitat with the natural landscape and to create a scheme that blurs the boundary between the natural world and the world of mankind.
