Identification: Spinosaurus aegyptiacus
Common name: “Spinosaur
Age: Late Cretaceous
Origin: Morocco

Spinosaurus is the largest known theropod dinosaur. Other large theropods include Tyrannosaurus and Giganotosaurus. Evidence suggests it ate fish and was semiaquatic, much like modern crocodilians, it lived on land and in water. Spinosaurus had high bone density, allowing better buoyancy control. Tall spines on the tail could given Spinosaurus thrust, speed, and maneuverability through the water. This specimen was found in the Kem-Kem beds of Morocco in the Saharan Desert and is 90% original bone.
